Our Big Girl

Our little girl isn't so little anymore! She turned 1! I cant even believe whole year has gone by since I first laid my eyes on her. She has brought more joy to our lives than we could have possibly ever imagined. We love her so much
My mom and sister drove up for Makayla's big day. We threw a party for her and she had the best of time. She didn't even want to open her presents cuz she was having way to much fun with all the other kids.

Her cake turned out pretty cute. The brown was supposed to be a dark chocolate brown, and we tried everything to get it darker, but it wouldn't change, but overall I really loved how it turned out. It was a white cake with raspberry filling and whipped cream cheese frosting. It tasted pretty dang good I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself. =)

I also made a separate little cake just for the birthday girl so she could dig into.

We thought she was going to put her whole fist into it and go crazy but she actually ate it pretty dainty. Rob was messing it up so she could take bigger pieces instead of putting two fingers in the frosting and licking it. she's so cute

had to put in this goofy pic of her. This shows her true silly self. You gotta love those funny teeth

Aunt Lacey got her this huge stuffed animal. She runs up to it and hugs it all day

Can you say Curly?

Okay so its official Makayla has curly hair. This is what happens when we don't brush her hair after her bath. I scrunched it up a bit and let it dry and this is what happened. The girls in my family have ringlet curls and Robert and I have wavy hair and little miss Makayla has it too! =) I would love it if her hair grows out and it turns into ringlets. It looks a little silly with it being so short but she's going to be a doll! Its been a while since we've had a mommy baby picture. I don't like taking pictures of me these days with my crazy teeth and braces, but I couldn't pass up a picture of Makayla laying on me.
The other night Rob had turned on boys 2 men and whenever he does that he wants everyone to dance with him. (he's very passionate about their music) so he picked up smalls and Makayla and started dancing. Smalls was loving it cuz we used to hold him like a baby ALL the time before Makayla was born and now he doesn't get treated like a baby, he gets treated like a dog.

update....

Wondering what Makayla has been up to these days?? Throwing Tantrums!! =) I had to get one of these pictures, she has really turned into a little girl no more baby. Makayla is definitely one of a kind, but she has also become so sweet. She is much more snugly than she ever has been. Her personality has really become to shine, she keeps Rob and I entertained for hours. She makes us laugh constantly. Her and Smalls (our dog) play all day long, they are best of buds and she has two little teeth on top and bottom and looks pretty silly when she laughs, which makes me laugh even more. Makayla always gives us kisses and has become very attached to both of us. She runs to us when we enter the room and she's been talking up a storm. Even though she's been doing more of what's in the picture, she's also been more fun and sweet. This past month I have been looking at her in amazement at how much she's grown and how smart she is becoming. I don't think we could love this little girl any more!

We also took a little trip to California to visit friends and family, and I didn't take many pictures, but I did get some of Makayla and her uncle Nick playing with her at the arcade. She had a blast on the motorcycle and racing the cars. (can you say Sorensen) We live for speed! I cant believe how much I can tell she will LOVE roller coasters. Makayla is my total mini me from her crazy personality to her girlyness. I absolutely LOVE IT and so does Rob.

We also celebrated Roberts 29th birthday! I was sick that day so he didn't get to wake up to balloons and streamers, but when he came home from work I had everything out for him. He had a great day at work, and ended the day going out to dinner just him and I. We have been very blessed with great neighbors and they took makayla while we went to Texas Roadhouse. Then we picked up Kayla and hung out with them for a little bit and came home had cake, opened presents and laughed at makayla, then we put her down for bed and had mommy daddy time. Overall Robert kept saying he had a great birthday

and instead of celebrating valentines day today, since its sunday we did it yesterday. I woke up went downstairs and the house was clean, and there were pink roses with balloons, my favorite valentines cookies, and doughnuts waiting for me. Then some other great neighbors of ours watched makayla so we could go visit good friends of ours that just had a baby, so we went to the hospital, then we picked makayla up and hung out with our neighbors for a while, relaxed, then went to the park where everyone was out and had more fun being with friends, then we went out to dinner at Red Lobster my favorite restaurant. I originally wanted the dinner to be romantic since I never get romanced, but we decided to bring Makayla along and she was in the funniest mood. She kept us laughing the entire night. She is so silly, so then we went home put baby to bed and enjoyed the night to ourselves =).

We got a call today from friends in our ward to have dinner with them tonight, and the fun keeps coming. I feel extremely blessed to have such an amazing husband and a great relationship. Our marriage has been almost perfect and I couldn't be luckier. I also cant believe the joy Makayla has brought to our lives. She is so perfect and she is a definite gift from our heavenly father.
