Announcing Robert Dale Miller aka Baby Robbie

Baby boy is finally here! His name is Robert Dale Miller he was born on 2/21/12 weighing in at 8lbs 1 oz and 19 3/4 inches long. He is sooo perfect and we are so in love!
my birth story is kind of long so I'll try to keep it semi short. Feb 19th at 8pm was when we were to go in and be induced, but the hospital called us that night and said there were no rooms available and they would call us when something opened up. We got the call at 4 am am that we could head to the hospital, so we did. It wasn't until 7:45 until they started the whole process. They started with cervidil to help dialate and soften me (I was only dialated to a 1 and 50% effaced) that had to be in for 12 hours before they could remove it. 4 hours after getting the cervidil I started having some pretty intense contractions. Luckily I didn't have to be hooked up to the monitors the whole 12 hours so I was able to wear my pj's and walk around the hospital. Well the contractions became stronger and stronger to where I could barely walk and was pretty much crying. well 12 hours go by and it is now 8pm and they take the cervidil out and I thought for sure I was dialated and had only a few more hours until It was time to give birth. So not the case my nurse informs me that I was only a 2-3. NOT EVEN DIALATED TO A 3!!! That was a complete shock because I was in sooo much pain for 8 hours! so I knew from then on it was going to be a long time. An hour later they put me on pitocin and my contractions picked up just a tad more. Midnight rolls around and I am finally dialated to a 3 and can get my epidural. I was so numb that after hours I had to call in the anesthesiologist to turn it down cuz I literally couldn't feel a thing and it was pretty uncomfortable, so they turned it down, but they told me they really didn't want to turn it down because it was already on such a low dose, but they did anyways, well on the 21st at 6:30 my doc came in and decided to break my water (at that time I was only dialated to a 4). I was feeling so defeated that after almost 24 hours I was only a 4 I just started to cry and told rob I didn't want to hear when someone texted us asking us if we'd had the baby yet it was just too hard. But once she broke my water things started to finally pick up. A couple hours later I dialated more and more by 11 they checked me and I was at a 7, but at that time I started to feel more and more of my legs and then my contractions then all of the sudden I was crying in pain again and my epidural was wearing off. The anesthesiologist had to come in and keep giving me doses. They think it was wearing off from it being so low for so long my body was in too much pain to mask the epidural. Well since I was now feeling all my contractions I felt soooo much pressure, 5 min after they checked me when I was a 7 I told her I was having tons of pressure and I think it was time to push, she waited to check me again for a little bit since she had just checked me, we finally got the epi working 80 % and the next thing we knew I was a 10. So in less than 5 min I had gone from a 7 to a 10. I asked for a mirror so I could watch Robbie being born (totally recommend it) and the doc came in and asked me to do a practice push and the head just popped out and the next push his shoulders and the next he was out. In less than 1 min my baby boy was born and I cried my little eyes out! It was such an amazing moment and to be able to see him come out was incredible! Luckily he came out so fast I didn't even feel any pain and if I had to push for a long time it would have been so hard since I was feeling some of my contractions still.
Okay sorry that was a lot to read!!
This is right after he was born, from the time we called my mom to tell her I was a dialated to a ten (she was 5 min away) she wanted to come in to see the birth, it was too late if you weren't in the room you were going to miss it, so my mom missed the birth but she is loving every moment with her new grandson!
Makayla holding Robbie for the first time. She loves him so much!!
Daddy is obsessed with his little boy! The second he arrived there was no getting his attention when he was around him. I would talk to Rob and he was so zoned into holding, or looking at Robbie everything else didn't exist.
He has been such a good baby we are so lucky and blessed to have 2 beautiful healthy children.
On other news 2 day after Robbie was born Makayla turned 3!! We bought a little trampoline for her birthday and she loves it. Her favorite things to do are playing with her friends, riding her bike, and playing baseball. She is crazy and fun and amazing and we love her more and more everyday!
